Learning Outcomes
Materials selection is a relevant subject in the scope of Mechanical Engineering. The purpose of this Curricular Unit is to provide to students the following skills:
OB1 - Confer skills within the scope of the careful selection of the different engineering materials, their properties, processes involved and applications.
OB2 - Approach the different philosophies considered in the realization of a project, establishing strategies that allow the student to choose the most appropriate materials and processes for the purpose in view.
OB3 - Use selection programs supported by databases, identifying merit indices and relevant properties to support the decision.
OB4 - Know and distinguishing between the most used types of non destructive testing, well as the respective fields of application.
