Contents

The course addresses the following main areas:
P1. Security Foundations: Threat modeling principles, cryptographic systems, software lifecycle security, and supply chain risk management;
P2. Systems Security: Embedded/IoT security, side-channel attacks, isolation mechanisms, and secure system design;
P3. Web Security: Web security models, common attack vectors, defensive strategies, and secure web application development;
P4. Emerging Technologies: AI system security, VR/AR security considerations, and security challenges in next-generation computing platforms.

Learning Outcomes

The course progresses from fundamental security principles like threat modeling and cryptographic systems to specialized domains, including embedded/IoT security, web security, and emerging areas such as AI system security.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
CO1. Analyze threat models and security vulnerabilities across different computing systems and platforms (Analysis - Bloom Level (BL) 4)
CO2. Apply cryptographic principles and security mechanisms to design secure software systems and embedded devices (Application - BL 3)
CO3. Evaluate the effectiveness of various security defenses and countermeasures against web-based attacks and emerging threats (Evaluation - BL 5)
CO4. Create security assessment reports and implement practical security solutions for real-world computing environments (Creating - BL 6)
