Learning Outcomes

This course addresses the subject of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOSs). It covers the basic concepts and principles of RTOSs such as how real-time requirements are addressed by them, which mechanisms they use to guarantee such real-time requirements. This course also covers programming for RTOS, namely device drivers, scheduling policies, synchronization mechanisms and so on.
By the end of this course, the student should master the supporting technologies and operation of most common RTOSs and be able to apply this knowledge to programming new RTOS-supported functionalities.
In particular, the student must be able to:
- CO1. Understand fundamental RTOS concepts and principles as well as architectures.
- CO2. Evaluate RTOS implemented mechanisms to support real-time requirements
- CO3. Apply RTOS mechanisms to support real-time constrained applications
- CO4. Integrate new real-time features in RTOS.
