Course Description – Applied Business Statistics
This course provides students with advanced knowledge of statistical methods and their application to business analysis and decision-making. It focuses on the use of quantitative techniques to formulate, analyse, and interpret business and economic problems using statistical reasoning. Students develop the ability to collect, manage, and evaluate data, apply appropriate statistical methods, and draw evidence-based conclusions to support managerial decisions.
The course covers key topics including data collection and sampling methods, survey design, sample analysis, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation and dependency analysis, and the preparation of research reports. Through case studies, practical exercises, and the use of statistical software, students strengthen their analytical and problem-solving skills while gaining experience in interpreting statistical results within business contexts.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply statistical methods to analyse business data, evaluate the reliability and validity of research findings, interpret quantitative results, and communicate evidence-based recommendations that support effective business decision-making.
