Course Description – Macroeconomics I

This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of macroeconomics and their application to economic analysis and policy-making. It examines the functioning of the economy as a whole, focusing on key macroeconomic indicators, aggregate supply and demand, economic growth and development, consumption and investment, business cycles, monetary policy, inflation, unemployment, and major schools of macroeconomic thought.

The course enables students to understand the relationships between macroeconomic variables and evaluate the impact of economic policies on national and global economies. Through theoretical instruction and practical problem-solving, students develop the ability to analyse macroeconomic issues, interpret economic data, and apply macroeconomic concepts to business and policy contexts.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to explain core macroeconomic concepts, assess the effects of fiscal and monetary policies, evaluate macroeconomic performance using standard economic indicators, and apply macroeconomic reasoning to support informed decision-making in business and public policy environments.
