Joint Description

The Double Bachelor's Degree in Galician and Spanish Applied Philology is a four-year, 240 ECTS programme that provides an interdisciplinary and professionally oriented education in the languages, literatures, and cultures of Galician and Spanish. The programme combines the traditional strengths of philological studies with applied training in digital humanities, language technologies, multilingual communication, and cultural mediation, while also including the study of two additional European languages and an optional specialization in Spanish Sign Language.

Designed to respond to contemporary social and labour market needs, the programme equips graduates with the knowledge and practical skills required for careers in education, language teaching, publishing, cultural management, language consultancy, digital content creation, communication, and language technologies. Its emphasis on practical learning, internationalization, digital competencies, and external internships ensures that graduates are well prepared for both professional practice and further academic study.

Mobility Structure

The programme incorporates a comprehensive mobility structure designed to strengthen students' linguistic, intercultural, and professional competencies through both international and national exchange opportunities. Student mobility is coordinated by the International Relations Office (ORI) of the Universidade de Vigo in collaboration with the Faculty of Philology and Translation, which oversees academic advising, learning agreements, credit recognition, and student support before, during, and after the mobility period.

International mobility is primarily offered through Erasmus+ (within Europe and with partner countries), ISEP exchanges, institutional agreements, and other bilateral partnerships, while national mobility is supported through the SICUE programme. Incoming international students benefit from orientation services, Spanish and Galician language courses, and integration activities organised in collaboration with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

The degree also has a strong international dimension through a planned double-degree agreement with the Université d'Orléans (France), enabling students to obtain both the Bachelor's Degree in Galician and Spanish Applied Philology (Universidade de Vigo) and the Licence de Langues, Littératures, Civilisations Étrangères et Régionales – Espagnol (Université d'Orléans). The agreement includes virtual international teaching (6 ECTS) and demonstrates the programme's capacity to combine physical and virtual mobility, expanding international participation and supporting flexible learning pathways.
