Contents
CP1. Analysis and characterization of biomass: proximate analysis, ultimate analysis (elemental composition) and energy content (heating value);
CP2. Thermochemical and chemical biomass processing: torrefaction, pyrolysis, gasification, esterification, catalytic reactions;
CP3. Biochemical biomass processing: enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation;
CP4. Development and integration of technological processes to obtain biofuels and biobased products.
Learning Outcomes
OBJ1. Identify and apply standards and analytical methods suitable for the physicochemical analysis of a biomass;
OBJ2. Characterize a biomass for a complete understanding of its characteristics, with the objective of its conversion into energy, chemicals or materials;
OBJ3. Identify and apply technological processes for processing biomass for the production of bioenergy and biobased products;
OBJ4. Produce biofuels, biomaterials and bioproducts through chemical and/or biological processes.
