Learning Outcomes
With the frequency and approval to this course students are able to:
O1 ? Understand environmental pollution problems and the objectives of sample characterization (environmental control, compliance with discharge standards, treatment, monitoring, etc.)
O2 ? Be familiar with current legislation regarding drinking water, wastewater, waste, soil, and air/gaseous emissions
O3 ? Define a sampling plan (type, technique, and frequency of sampling, selection of parameters, equipment, and sample preservation)
O4 ? Characterize samples (drinking water, wastewater, waste, soil, and air/gaseous emissions) based on current standards and legislation, and interpret/critique results, taking into account relationships between parameters
O5 ? Prepare test reports (incorporating basic quality control tools) and considering the purpose of the characterization
