Learning Outcomes

This discipline is inserted on the 3rd year of the Degree on Instrumentation and Metrology. The objectives are giving the students adequate competences on instrumentation and control systems with emphasis on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including communication protocols, automation, PLCs, HMI and SCADA.
Design and use of real DCS enviroments, including protocols and HMI.
Trend analysis, including technological evolution, economical implications/benefits and their correlation.
For the proposed case-study it is necessary to perform a complete analysis of the involved concepts (theoretical and technological). Particularly relevant are the problem characterization , technical alternatives evaluation and cost performance comparative analysis.
