Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main international project management standards, either by approaching traditional/predictive methodologies, oriented towards predictive life cycles (waterfall), or by approaching agile methodologies, more suited to iterative and incremental life cycles. They will also learn how to use the software Microsoft Project®, for the traditional/predictive methodology, and the software Jira®, for the agile methodology, through a simulation approach. They will have to figure out a solution to real-life problems in the engineering field.
After the course, students will:
OB1. Know the framework of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK® Guide - Seven Edition);
OB2. Be able to use the software MS Project® under the PMBoK® framework;
OB3. Be able to choose the right tools and techniques facing a specific project;
OB4. Know how to use some processes in project management, particularly in the process groups of initiation, planning, and control;
OB5. Know the Principles and Values of the Agile approach to project management;
OB6. Know the SCRUM framework as an agile project management tool and understand the critical factors for its implementation in an organization;
OB7. Understand the role played by different actors in Scrum (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers) and master the elementary techniques for its operation;
OB8. Be able to use the software Jira®.
