This curricular unit deals with the necessary knowledge that the student has to have in order to find a suitable technological solution to a proposed engineering problem. It is divided in four different sections, each one given by a specialist lecturer.

Learning Outcomes
OB1 - To give students the necessary skills to design and calculate special mechanical structures like pressure vessels, vehicle structures, machine structures, advanced composite structures etc.
OB2 - The student should also be able to use recent materials and technologies for the design and manufacture of special structures.
OB3 - The student should be able to integrate different knowledge subjects of the mechanical engineering field.
