Course Description – Physics I

This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of classical physics and their application to engineering and technical sciences. It develops an understanding of the physical laws governing mechanical and thermodynamic systems while strengthening students’ ability to apply mathematical methods to the analysis and solution of technical problems.

The course covers key topics including physical measurement and unit systems, mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, Newton’s laws of motion, statics, rigid body motion, momentum, energy, oscillations, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, kinetic theory of gases, and mathematical modelling of complex physical systems. Students also gain experience with numerical methods and the application of mathematical models to engineering, environmental, and interdisciplinary problems.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to explain and apply fundamental physical principles, analyse and solve engineering problems in mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics, develop mathematical models of physical systems, and use quantitative methods to support scientific and technical decision-making.
