Course Description – Programming for Electrical Engineers I

This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to programming principles and software development for engineering applications. It focuses on algorithmic thinking, program design, and the implementation of software solutions using the C programming language, while introducing the fundamental concepts of Python programming. Students develop the computational skills required to solve engineering problems through structured programming and software development methodologies.

The course covers key topics including computer architecture fundamentals, programming concepts, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, pointers, structures, dynamic memory allocation, input and output operations, preprocessing directives, debugging, integrated development environments, code documentation, and software quality principles. It also introduces the basic syntax and programming constructs of Python to broaden students’ programming competencies.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to design, implement, test, and analyse computer programs in C, apply algorithmic approaches to engineering problems, use professional programming tools and debugging techniques, and develop basic applications in Python while following established software development and coding standards.
