Description

Systematic solving of material balances in chemical processes, the use of programming languages and programs Matlab, Aspen Plus and Excel. The student will gain insight into the fundamental relationships among chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics, and chemical processes. The student acquires the basis for modeling chemical reactions, (bio)molecular processes, transport phenomena, and separation processes

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and understanding: Student is capable to: - Differentiate the different types of chemical processes, understand and summarize basic process operations - Utilize a systematic approach to convert units of measurement among the different measurement systems - Develop and solve mass balances (mathematical models) for process units and processes with or without a chemical reaction - Use appropriate numerical methods to solve algebraic equations - Describe basic principles of green chemistry and use simple evaluation metrics - Explain and use basic interpolation and regression methods for experimental data processing, mathematical model development - Independently use programming tools to solve mass balances (mathematical models)
